High tensile Field Fence

An upgrade to the classic in agricultural fencing

This style of fencing is what people's minds conjure up most often when they hear agricultural fencing. The ubiquitous field fence has earned its place in our collective consciousness by being affordable, effective and visually appealing.

Field fencing is characterized by the distance between the vertical stays, which come in 6" and 12" options. It is a lighter, faster to install and therefore more affordable option than non climb fencing, and it is ideal for cattle. Traditional low carbon wire, having a much higher stretch rate and lower breaking strength is also only manufactured with ten horizontal lines, while the high tensile we use here at Mountain M Fencing boasts thirteen lines in addition to superior strength and durability. The thirteen horizontal lines are graduated from 6" blocks at the top of the mesh to 3" tall at the bottom of the mesh to prevent foot entrapment and prevent smaller animals gaining entrance through the fence; fewer lines in low carbon fencing results in 5" tall blocks at the bottom of the mesh offering less safety and security overall.

It is worth noting that some producers report having  good success with the 12" field fence for sheep as an affordable option for large acreage because they don't have the same issues with head entrapment as you may encounter with the 6" field fence. The ideal option for sheep and goats is the 3" mesh as they can't force their heads through the fence at all but the added vertical stays can be cost prohibitive for large acreage which is where the 12" becomes a viable solution.
